No one said £3.50
Q8- What colours do you think of when you think of Hip Hop and why?
8 people said Black, 3 people said red and 2 people said blue. Their reason was those colours represent the content of the musical lyrics, the culture of black people and also the fact that HipHop is quite a dark also reds as the themes of violence and gangs is presence. whilst some poeple gave this answer, some of the girls said colours such as bright neon and contrasting colours. Here is a quote taken from one of the answers i recieved. 'Bright; Retro; neon colours because hip hop is all about making a statement and being unique; an individual (standing out the crowd)'
Q9- How is the girl in this image on the right represented?
Many answers i recieved had the same kinds of opinions in them. Some described her as a mess, others a rude girl, street girl, ghetto, glamorous. Here is a quoted answer form one of my Questionnaire results. 'She is clearly modelling an urban clothing line; her hair makes her different from many other celebrities who represent the urban pop culture. The gold earrings and rope chain is a classic statement of old skool hip hop (influenced by Run DMC) and her hoodie seems to be influenced by a baseball top or sneaker.'
OVERALL: This primary research has given me an understanding of what my target audience would like to see in a Hip Hop magazine. I found that magazines are rarely or not at all bought daily or once a week, most people tend to buy the monthly magazines or not at all which tells me that magazines may not be as popular due to other sources of music information such as TV, radio, podcasts and mainly the internet. 16 out of the 20 people I asked prefer busy covers, 4 people chose simple covers. I believe they chose busy covers as its more appealing and grabs the audiences attention more. However I may go against this when creating my magazine cover, as I like to be diverse and challenge the normal magazines that everyone sees. The people i asked may have chosen busy because it's what they know and what they always see around in the market. There are simple covers around and these simple covers include a eye catching photo that needs nothing else around it to grab the audience attention. Overall i have found my research very helpful, and will take a lot of this primary research into consideration when creating my magazine.
